The Teaching and Learning Lab is sponsoring the following talk today,
Wednesday, May 10:

Using Assessment to Support Learning
Speaker: Graham Gibbs
Time: 12:00p-1:30p
Location: 9-151
This presentation will focus on how assessment can be used to support
student learning rather than being used as a tool for measurement.
Taking as its starting point students' experience of assessment
systems, it will report on published data that shows dramatic gains
in student learning when assessment systems have been modified in
effective ways.

Professor Graham Gibbs, Ph.D. is Director of the Oxford Learning
Institute, and he has led similar centers at the Open University and
Oxford Brookes University since 1980. He is the organizer of the
Network for Enhancing Teaching and Learning in Research Intensive
Environments, a consortium of fifteen universities worldwide to which
MIT belongs. Professor Gibbs is the author of fourteen books on
teaching and learning in higher education.
