I am pleased to announce the release of version 1.0 of the HPEC
Challenge Benchmark Suite, as well as the release of a web site
dedicated to the benchmarks. The URL for the web site is http://
www.ll.mit.edu/HPECchallenge/. The site provides software downloads,
benchmark documentation, and a means of uploading results to the site
to be shared with the community.

For those of you not familiar with the benchmark suite, the HPEC
Challenge Benchmarks consist of a set of single-processor kernel-
level benchmarks and a multi-processor application benchmark. The
kernel benchmarks address important operations across a broad range
of DoD signal and image processing applications. The application
benchmark implements a scalable Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)
application that is representative of one of the most common
functions in DoD surveillance systems.

If you are interested in receiving future updates concerning the
benchmarks please go to http://www.ll.mit.edu/HPECchallenge/ and
register with the site.

The benchmarks and web site are works in progress, so if there are
any questions, comments, or suggestions for improvement, please send
them to hpecChallenge at ll.mit.edu.

Thank you,
