<http://web.mit.edu/cre/events/events/partners-meeting-06.html> POWERING
THE FUTURE:
MIT/CRE Annual Partners Meeting
The CRE Partners Meeting was held on April 5 6, 2006. Invited speakers
addressed the topic Powering the Future through topics as diverse as
global systems models, energy politics, and the use of energy from coal,
hydrogen, and nuclear fusion. Participants learned about cutting edge
energy technologies by touring the Sloan Automotive Laboratory, the Alcator
C-Mod Tokamak at MITs Plasma Fusion Center, and the MIT Reactor.
One partner representative who had traveled from China for the
meeting commented that the conference was particularly valuable because it
opened up our horizons and made us think outside of the box about energy
use and how it will affect real estate development. Another participant
said that the presentations convinced her that if you create the right
incentives, innovation will happen.
The meeting concluded with roundtable discussions of what these
energy technologies mean for the Real Estate industry, and how they might
affect the participants organizations over the next five years.

ALUMNI/AE ASSOCIATION OF THE CENTER FOR REAL ESTATE (AACRE)
News and Updates!
_____
AACRE Student Host Program Needs You!
In 2003, a current student was the catalyst for the creation of
the Center's Student Host Program. The Program allows prospective
students to visit MIT and CRE, meet students and faculty, and attend
classes. Current students host prospective students and share their
experiences and advice about the program.
Drawing on this history, the Alumni Association of CRE (AACRE) is developing
a new, affiliated program targeted to prospective students outside the
Boston area. In this program, alums would be matched with people in their
area who are interested in the MSRED program. We would ask participating
alums to meet with the candidate and answer any questions they might have
about the Center. If you are interested in participating, please contact
Amanda Strong at Amanda.strong at alum.mit.edu.
Alumni/ae Networking
Alumni/ae <http://amps-tools.mit.edu/cre-alumniblog/> Weblog
To allow alumni/ae to connect with one another, announce events,
seek career advice, and share business opportunities, CRE has created an
Alumni/ae Weblog (http://amps-tools.mit.edu/cre-alumniblog/). On the
weblog, you can find events and information geared to alumni/ae and see what
your fellow alumni/ae are doing. Post your own news and comments, or send
us your feedback or ideas for the weblog, by emailing Karen MacArthur at
<mailto:macarthr at mit.edu> macarthr at mit.edu.
Calling all Europe-based Alumni/ae

network of Europe-based alumni/ae has formed, and their goal is to develop
and expand the real estate network. If you are interested in joining the
MIT/CRE European network, e-mail Nick Spencer (CRE '03) with your contact
details. Nick can be reached at <mailto:nspencer at credogroup.com>
nspencer at credogroup.com.
Calling all San Francisco-based Alumni/ae -- May 18th House Tour
CRE alum Ted Horton ('87), is reaching out to San
Francisco-based CRE grads. The next get-together will be on May 18th at
3701 Washington at 6pm. The group will be touring a $15M home for the 2006
San Francisco Decorator Showcase. Afterwards, the group will walk down to
Sacramento Street for dinner. The group is limited to about 8 people, so
please RSVP to Ted at theodorehorton at gmail.com to save a spot.
Annual CRE ICSC Dinner -- May 22nd

Centers (ICSC) convention in Las Vegas in May are invited to attend the
