Included in this edition of the MIT/CRE Alumni/ae E-newsletter are the following items: * Meet CRE2005 * Alumni/ae Reunion Weekend!! -- 9/30 -10/2 * AACRE Symposium -- October 1, 2004 * CRE Chairman Keynote Speaker in Sweden! * MIT/CRE Open House -- October 25, 2004 * Save the Dates: CRE at the ULI, MIT/CRE in London and 20th Anniversary * Reminders and Notices MEET THE CLASS OF 2005! The Class of 2005 arrived on campus August 23rd. They are a group of 38 real estate professionals of which 14 are women, nine are from areas outside of the United States, and nine are dual degree candidates. There will be a number of opportunities for you to meet and interact with the Class of 2005, and I hope that you will seize these occasions. I encourage students to contact the alumni/ae as a source of information about companies, cities, and jobs. In addition, I often approach graduates about participating in the Career and Professional events sponsored by the Center. Currently, we are seeking alumni/ae involvement in the following activities: * Informational Interviews -- Friday, November 19th -- Serve on a panel or talk to a small group of students. This is an opportunity to offer insights about different aspects of the real estate industry. In addition, you will have a chance to meet other real estate professionals and do a little networking yourself. If you are interested in participating in the Informational Interviews, please contact me as soon as possible. * Networking Nite -- Thursday, February 3, 2005 -- I invite interested alumni/ae to return to Cambridge to informally meet and talk to the Class of 2005 during our networking reception. This event is being planned in collaboration with the AACRE and the ULI, and will be using "speed dating" as the mechanism for helping the students to meet as many of the real estate professionals in attendance as possible. You could be one of those people! If February is better for you than November, have a little fun, provide a lot of information, and enjoy yourself on us! * Mock(?) Interviews -- Friday, April 22, 2005 -- The Mock(?) Interviews give the students an opportunity to practice their interviewing skills while adding to their personal network of industry contacts. A job may or may not be at stake. As a result, while the student is honing their interviewing skills, the companies have a risk-free opportunity to interact with our students. If you would like to be an interviewer, I encourage you to contact me. Our graduates are a vital part of our activities, and I hope that you will use these opportunities to share your experience with the current class and get to know them. If you would like to participate in any of these events, please contact me at marionoc at mit.edu or 617-253-2680. The MIT/CRE ALUMNI/AE REUNION WEEKEND is almost here!
