TONY CIOCHETTI ARRIVES AS THE NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE CRE!
One of the Center's most significant achievements over the last year has
been the hiring of Dr. Brian (Tony) Ciochetti as the Thomas G. Eastman Chair
of the Center for Real Estate. Ciochetti was founding director of the
Center for Real Estate Development in the Keenan-Flagler School of Business
at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. A highly-respected
academic, he also brings extensive real estate industry experience in
development and in commercial mortgage analysis, as well as considerable
success as an institution builder at UNC.
Tony will work closely with CRE Director David Geltner as a partner in the
leadership of the MIT center, responsible in particular for the cultivation
of industry-relevant research and membership programs, and for teaching
topics in real estate finance and development. He will also continue to
nurture and expand the ongoing operations of the Master of Science in Real
Estate program, the nation's first one-year graduate program in real estate
development. Since its inception in 1983, the master's program has served
as a model for graduate programs at other universities both in the US and
abroad.
Ciochetti holds a BA in finance from the University of Oregon, and an MS and
a PhD in real estate and urban land economics from the University of
Wisconsin, Madison.

The Class of 2004's softball team, Pure Play, demonstrated outstanding
sportsmanship and athletic prowess as they won the last game of the softball
season, 11 to 6, against the MIT Contractors. What a way to turn in a
thesis!

Deutsche Bank, the Center for Real Estate's Tony Ciochetti will be
moderating a panel discussion and program on real estate financial markets.
March 18 - 19, 2005 -- MIT/CRE'S 20TH ANNIVERSARY BASH. In March, the Center
for Real Estate will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary. As part of the
20th Anniversary, we will hold a NewVisions Gala for both alumni and members
to celebrate and recognize the hard work and success of the NewVisions team.
In addition, the Center will feature a conference on topics that will serve
to spotlight the Center's role as a thought leader in the real estate
industry. Finally, we hope to incorporate a special alumni workshop that
will discuss ways in which the Center and the alumni/ae community can work
