Cambridge, MIT Police Arrest Suspects in Unarmed Street Robbery

November 15, 2011 - Cambridge Police, aided by MIT Police, arrested two suspects in connection with an unarmed street robbery in Cambridge.

At approximately 11:45 PM on 11/13, police were dispatched on a report of a recent unarmed robbery on Main Street where a female was approached by two black males, thrown to the ground, and robbed of her cell phone and purse.

Shortly thereafter, Cambridge Police and MIT Police stopped several suspects in the area matching the description given by the female victim. Ralph Corgain, 18, of 4 Tyndale Street in Roslindale along with a juvenile male of Dorchester, were arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery after the victim was able to positively identify two of the suspects. Her property was later recovered from them. Two other individuals were identified by police at the scene.

"Investigators are reviewing this incident closely to determine if there is a link to several unarmed street robberies where victims have been approached from behind, pushed to the ground, and robbed of their belongings," said Cambridge Police Deputy Superintendent Paul Ames. "We are hopeful these arrests will bring an end to this string of crimes."
