HOLIDAY AWARENESS NOTICE
Issued: December 4, 2007
Please distribute.....Please forward
*'TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY...IT'S ALSO THE SEASON TO BE 'WARE.*
There are many "Characters" that are easy to spot and apprehend, like
The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Unfortunately, there are many more
characters who lurk around the halls and dorms at MIT with the
intentions of stealing anything you leave unattended. It might be your
I-POD, laptop, digital camera, a coat, or your wallet with all your
debit/credit cards which was left "for only a minute".
Don't let a "Grinch" or any other character be the recipient of your
property. Whether you are leaving for "just a minute" or for the holiday
break, LOCK IT UP. Before you leave your office or room not only pull
your door shut, check to be sure that it's locked. Be sure windows are
closed and locked. Do not leave valuable property on your desks, they
should be in a locked office, and be locked in a cabinet or taken with
you. For Institute property see
<http://controllers.mit.edu/site/insurance/policies_procedures/thefts_property_damage>.
If you see someone who looks or is acting suspicious, please call the
MIT Police immediately at 3-1212 or 100 from any Institute telephone or
617-253-1212 from a cell phone. The MIT Police are here 365 days a year,
24 hours a day.
Thanks for your help and our best wishes for a safe and happy holiday
season.
