Cambridgeport Street Robberies

Cambridge Police reports there have been two street robberies in the
Cambridgeport area.
REPORTED INCIDENTS:
1) On Sunday, February 18 at approximately 5:20 p.m. in the area of
Brookline and Erie Streets an Asian male victim was robbed of $110 cash.
The suspect stated he had a gun, but not shown. The suspect took off
the victims eye glasses throwing them on the ground before fleeing
towards Massachusetts Ave.
2) On Wednesday, February 21 at approximately 12:40 - 1:00 a.m. in the
area of Pearl and Lawrence Street a White male victim was robbed of $20.
The victim was walking on Pearl St. towards Mass. Ave. The victim was
punched in the jaw before the suspects fled in an unknown direction.
SUSPECTS:
1) The victim describes the suspect as follows:a Black Male, 5'6" -
5'8", thin, grey or tan hooded sweatshirt. The suspect stated he had a
gun.
2) The victim describes the suspects as follows: a)Black male, light
skinned, young, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. b) Black male, grey
hooded sweatshirt, thin and a mustache. The victim was punched in the
jaw before the suspects fled in an unknown direction.
SUGGESTIONS:
All members of the MIT community are asked to be alert and take
precautions. To minimize the opportunity for such attacks, the MIT
Police Department reminds community members to be vigilant while walking
throughout campus and surrounding areas both during the day and at night
and to take the appropriate precautions, such as walking with others and
utilizing the Safe Ride whenever possible. Remain alert to your
immediate surroundings while talking on a cell phone or listening to
music. Anyone on campus should call the MIT Police Department at
617-253-1212, utilize a blue light emergency telephone, or dial 100 from
an Institute telephone if they feel they are in danger at any time.
