Good Afternoon,
Please join community members from the School of Science for #MITShutDownSTEM: A Day of Reflection & Education<https://calendar.mit.edu/event/MITSHUTDOWNSTEM> on June 13th to learn and reflect on the impact of systemic racism in STEM.
>From 12-1PM, Susan T. Fiske, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs in the Department of Psychology at Princeton University, will discuss the history and continuing structures of racism that determine today's systemic racism and racism in STEM.
>From 1-2PM, there will be a film screening of Can We Talk?: Difficult Conversations with Underrepresented People of Color. Kendall Moore's film explores the issue of ‘social belonging’ in the context of STEM and the effect it has on the lives of underrepresented people of color who are pursuing an education or career in STEM; or, have decided to leave because of an overwhelming feeling of not belonging.
