To members of the biology community,

I hope you share my excitement about the selection of Sally Kornbluth<https://news.mit.edu/2022/sally-kornbluth-named-MIT-president-1020> as the next president of MIT. The appointment of an immensely talented administrator who is also a decorated biologist who has made important contributions to apoptosis research is affirming for us in the biology department. Matt Vander Heiden, who served on the presidential search committee, is extremely enthusiastic about this choice, and I very much look forward to getting to know Dr. Kornbluth. I hope you will offer her a warm welcome if and when you have the opportunity to meet her.
