Subject: Please Forward: Teach for MIT Summer HSSP!
Date: May 23, 2022 at 3:28:49 PM EDT
I hope that your summer is off to a great start! My name is Matthew, and I’m a member of the MIT Educational Studies Program (ESP). Every year, MIT ESP organizes Summer HSSP, a program where MIT students teach classes to hundreds of middle and high schoolers. We regularly have students from Biology teach at our programs, and we would appreciate it if you could pass along this teaching and outreach opportunity:

TL;DR: Teacher registration for Summer HSSP 2022 is now open! Register<https://esp.mit.edu/teach/HSSP/index.html?src=summer-hssp-2022-department-Biology> by this Friday 5/27 to teach an online class to middle and high school students over 6 Saturdays!
Are you passionate about teaching middle and high schoolers? Can’t wait to share that obscure fact you learned years ago? Have you taught at Splash or Spark and felt that one weekend just wasn’t enough? Do you think Hungry Squirrels Scrutinizing Pinecones are just too cute to resist?
If any of these sound like you, then you should teach for Summer HSSP<https://esp.mit.edu/teach/HSSP/index.html?src=summer-hssp-2022-department-Biology>!
Brought to you by the MIT Educational Studies Program (you may know us from Splash and Spark), Summer HSSP is a 6-week program that will run from 1 PM to 4 PM EDT, every Saturday from July 9th to August 13th.
Every year, hundreds of students in grades 7-12 join HSSP to take classes from teachers just like you! Sign up to teach 1 or 1.5 hour classes for 6 Saturdays on anything you want - recent classes include The Real History of Ancient Greece, Quantum Field Theory: A Mathematical Perspective, and Soils: Science, Practice, and Sustainability. Many of our classes are taught by small groups of co-teachers, so we encourage you to sign up with friends too! This year, students will attend Summer HSSP classes virtually over Zoom, but teachers have the option to teach on MIT’s campus.
If you need any supplies to teach your class or to send out to students, we’ve got you covered! We can fund up to $50 of class supplies per class, or more if you clear it with us via email in advance. All teachers will receive a free t-shirt, and teachers who teach on campus will also be provided with free food!
Sign up to teach<https://esp.mit.edu/teach/HSSP/index.html?src=summer-hssp-2022-department-Biology> by Friday 5/27! If you have any questions about the program or want more inspiration for classes to teach, feel free to reach out to us at summer-hssp at mit.edu<mailto:summer-hssp at mit.edu>.
Sincerely,
Kate and Vivian
Summer HSSP 2022 Directors
