Hi – We are hoping you can forward this email to your undergrads, because we are continuing our efforts to make sure that all the Sloan law courses are welcoming to undergraduates. There were 24 undergrads enrolled this past fall. While that was only 8% of the total, they seemed to have had a good experience. (Their average rating of the courses on a 1-7 scale was 6.4.) The same four courses, listed below, are being offered this spring, and undergrad pre-enrollment is already higher than enrollment last fall:
• 15.6151. Essential Law for Business. M/W 8:30-10am. E51-145. 9 units. Letter-graded. A strong foundation for a career involving finance, complex transactions, or general management.
• 15.6181. Startups and the Law. Thur 7-8:30pm. E51-345. 6 units. P/D/F. Key legal issues in launching, working in, financing, and growing an innovation-driven new venture.
• 15.621. Your Career and the Law. H3. M/W 4-5:30pm. E51-395. 6 units. P/D/F. What employment agreements really mean. Changing jobs. Discrimination. Startups. Hiring and firing.
• 15.6221. The Law of AI, Big Data and Social Media. Tues 7-8:30pm. E51-345. 6 units. P/D/F. Planning a career or venture tied to cutting-edge digital technologies? This course is designed for you.
Our primary teaching goal is a realistic understanding of law-sensitive risks and opportunities – both of us have come to teaching from careers as practicing lawyers. There are no prerequisites.
Further details on the courses are at https://tinyurl.com/LawAtSloan . And feel free to reach out to us with questions.
