Hello,
I am the Temporary Program Assistant for the MOSTEC<https://vimeo.com/583624785> program in the MIT Office of Engineering Outreach Programs<https://oeop.mit.edu/> (OEOP) in SOE, where we provide free, pre-college STEM enrichment programs for 365+ middle and high schoolers from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
As we prepare for our MOSTEC 2022 summer program, we are looking for MIT departments interested in designing and piloting an engaging college-level online Project Course for our high-achieving and diverse group of rising high school seniors.
Our summer instructor positions are paid ($30/hr), fully remote, and flexible. Instructors can teach solo or with a co-instructor. We’ve found that this position is a great opportunity for Masters and PhD students to gain teaching experience, share their academic passions, and establish meaningful relationships with students. Partnering with MOSTEC is also a way to support the efforts of broadening participation in STEM in order to address department and grant-related goals around outreach. Because our courses take place in the evenings, this also works well for those who have daytime commitments.
Below my signature you will find more information about the MIT OEOP, who we serve, and our impact. Attached you will find a flyer with additional details about our MOSTEC Program and this unique opportunity to create a project course.
If you or your department is interested in discussing this exciting opportunity, please reach out<mailto:reimi at mit.edu> to Reimi Hicks, OEOP Manager of Programs, or Eboney Hearn<mailto:ehearn at mit.edu>, OEOP Executive Director to set up a time to talk.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Warmly,
Liz Schababerle
