We have an opportunity through MIT Full STEAM Ahead<https://fullsteam.mit.edu/summer21/> for college and university students to participate as paid mentors in a MIT summer program for 13-16 year olds from late June through mid-August. Could you please share this message below with your department's undergraduate and grad students? We would really appreciate it! Thank you.

Full STEAM Ahead Summer 2021 Program
Full STEAM Ahead (FSA)<https://fullsteam.mit.edu/> is a community outreach initiative to provide research-based hands-on learning opportunities for K-12 students. The initiative was launched in spring 2020 to support parents, teachers and students during the early days of COVID-19 by providing access to high-quality educational materials. Our vision is to create a global community of learners (children, teachers, and parents) who can share ideas, ask and answer questions, and engage in STEAM in meaningful ways even as they’re forced to stay home.
We are looking for Mentors to join our Full STEAM Ahead Into Summer Program<https://fullsteam.mit.edu/summer21/>. As our FSA summer program has previously demonstrated, MIT students can be amazing mentors to younger students. The position will take place from late June through mid-August and pays $17/hour.
This July, we are offering a three-week online summer program for students 13-16 years old in Massachusetts that will be focused on hands-on learning and projects. Mentors will work with smaller groups of up to 15 students and will provide mentorship and project support around the program’s activities. Responsibilities include math tutoring, running trained modules, working with the design thinking method to encourage project development, and choosing a subject to teach to participants during a student-selected “choice time.”
Pre-requisites:
* Passion for K-12 education and mentoring high school students.
* An interest in working with different MIT groups across disciplines.
* Have 30 hours a week to commit to this project.
* Be available for initial training in late June and continued training for later programs.
* Be willing to run module activities and respond to questions from school students.
* Keep a weekly reflection journal that captures your thoughts and reflections about what is working, what is not, and how we might improve the program.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact Kirky DeLong (kirky at mit.edu<mailto:kirky at mit.edu>) or, if you're a MIT student, you can also apply here using Handshake<https://app.joinhandshake.com/jobs/4829862>.
Thank you!
