Biology Students or Graduates Wanted for Part-Time Writing Work
I'm looking for Biology students or graduates to help, on an hourly basis, with a project creating microbiology and molecular biology learning materials for undergraduate students. This job is part researching, part writing, part fact-checking, part textbook-reading, part drawing, and 100% biology. The basic idea is taking complex ideas from dense textbook-style resources, simplifying the language, and making the content more accessible and engaging.
Folks who are a particularly good fit for this work would be very interested in education and teaching. You should really enjoy explaining and simplifying complex topics. And it would help to have a nerdish love (or at least an appreciation) for reading academic textbooks. You don't have to be an expert in microbiology, but you should be able to read about a new topic in a textbook, figure out what it's really saying, and explain it in simple, accessible language.
Anyone who is interested in learning more about this should send me an email at tdwscience at gmail.com<mailto:tdwscience at gmail.com>, and I'd love to talk more. My name is Tyler DeWitt, and I'm a graduate of the Microbiology program, where I did my PhD in Alan Grossman's lab. I make YouTube videos, and I do work with education, science, and technology. Please feel free to Google me to see examples of the other work that I've done.
