Subject: MIT BrainTrust event
Hi everyone,
MIT BrainTrust will be hosting a summer speaker series, with talks in June, July, and August. We will be inviting distinguished researchers and experts in the fields of brain injury and neurology, and hope you can all attend if you are interested. Our first talk will be this Sunday the 28th at 5PM EST. Dr. Viet Nguyen from Stanford will be discussing concussion treatments.
Topic: "Concussion: A Multidisciplinary Approach"
Abstract: Dr. Nguyen will review the latest evidence on concussion and a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. Concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) that can cause dysfunction across a wide variety of networks in the brain. Clinical evaluation is more sensitive than imaging. Improved screening tools (like symptoms scales and eye tracking technology) can be helpful in timely diagnosis and treatment. Exercise and sleep are the cornerstones of recovery. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a rare late-effect of repeated concussions and has no cure.
