I’m a publicity director of a Spark program. Spark is a program in which middle schoolers come to MIT for a weekend to take fun and exciting classes, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could forward the email below to the undergraduate and graduate students in Biology who might be interested in this teaching opportunity!

Spark<https://esp.mit.edu/whatisspark> is our weekend-long program for middle school students, held this year on the weekend of March 14–15. Classes can be any length from 1 to 3 hours and any size from a small workshop to a giant lecture, with as few or as many sections as you want. You can also teach interactive walk-in classes featuring fun activities where students can freely drop by. Spark attracts over a thousand middle schoolers!

No prior teaching experience required. Past classes<http://esp.mit.edu/random> have included Combinatorial Game Theory, Journalism, Russian Music and Literature, Woven Paper Fish, and Unicycling. You can also take a look at our website<https://esp.mit.edu/teach/logistics/whattoteach.html> or last year’s Spark catalog<https://esp.mit.edu/learn/Spark/2019/catalog> for more inspiration. We encourage you to co-teach your class together in a small team, so spread the word to your friends and colleagues!

Free t-shirts as well as free meals will be provided during the weekend to all of our teachers! If you want to talk to us or learn more, we will have an infosession on February 5th (Wednesday) at 5:30 pm in 4-270. RSVP for free dinner.<https://www.facebook.com/events/2512227735772276/>

Register at esp.mit.edu/firework<http://esp.mit.edu/spark20> by February 7th to be a part of Spark, and feel free to email spark at mit.edu<mailto:spark at mit.edu> with any questions!

Sincerely,
Julian and Rujul
Spark 2020 Directors
