About miniPCR bio
Our mission at miniPCR bio is to foster a scientifically literate society. We create and develop scientific education and research products that are easy-to-use, portable and affordable. We broaden the reach of DNA analysis and other technologies to scientists, educators and the DNA curious.
Summer intern in Biology
We are looking for a Massachusetts-based candidate to join us as a full-time intern during the summer of 2020. The internship will be focused on developing the newest educational product portfolio, BioBitsTM, for miniPCR bio. BioBits™ cell-free reactions are tiny molecular factories that can create a variety of proteins without the need for cell culture. Development will include lab activities as well as the associated content and communications in traditional and digital formats. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a wide array of projects, including design and development of new BioBitsTM curriculum, changes and updates to current BioBitsTM educational content, prototyping and piloting new BioBitsTM labs at education and professional development workshops. You will get to work closely with miniPCR bio leadership on our expanding product portfolio ad create content that is innovative and will translate into direct impact in STEM education.
Responsibilities
* Take curriculum ideas from initial concept to R&D and pilot production
• Define requirements, learning objectives, and detailed designs
• Generate educational content, in traditional and digital media formats
• Propose new educational concepts in cutting-edge biology to leadership
* Identify components, conduct wet lab R&D, and define product design for manufacturing
* Collaborate with educators to refine concepts and product prototypes
* Propose awareness raising strategies for new content, using social media and other marketing vehicles
* Help design and conduct professional development workshops for educators
Requirements
* Full time enrollment in 4-year program in Biology or related field (e.g. MS or BS)
* Experience with molecular biology lab techniques
* Familiarity with social media
* Passion for science outreach and STEM education
