Do you work with talented students in the areas of biology, genetics, biochemistry, or something similar? Are they interested in research and exploring that further? I am writing to encourage you to have your students apply to the graduate program in Genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Our PhD program offers graduate education at the interface of biology with the physical and computational sciences. We are looking for top students with interests in disease biology, cell biology, computational systems, developmental genetics, evolutionary and population genetics, gene expression, genomics & proteomics, and neuro and behavioral genetics. We strongly encourage applications from those with stellar backgrounds either in genetics and biological sciences. To learn more about application and admissions criteria, please click here<https://genetics.wisc.edu/prospective-ph-d-students-2-2-2/>.

Our training program includes over 70 faculty trainers whose primary appointments span over 20 departments and multiple colleges. Trainers in our program share the incorporation of genetic and genomic perspectives while collectively capturing the diversity of research questions, tools, and approaches of modern scientific research. Our trainers and program can therefore provide students with a solid foundation in modern and classical genetic / genomic knowledge while exposing them to cutting-edge research experiences. To learn more about our trainers and research, please review those details on our website<https://genetics.wisc.edu/faculty-and-trainers/>.

If any of your students need support or have questions, please don’t hesitate to e-mail us at gradcoord at genetics.wisc.edu<mailto:gradcoord at genetics.wisc.edu>.

I sincerely appreciate your help in bringing our program to the attention of your undergraduates with appropriate background and interests.

Sincerely,
Lauren Foley
Student Services Coordinator
