Subject: REQUEST TO FORWARD: Call for Proposals: School of Science Quality of Life (SQoL) program
Date: November 18, 2019 at 4:50:18 PM EST
Good Afternoon,
The School of Science is now seeking proposals for the School of Science Quality of Life (SQoL) program designed to build community within the School, promote inclusiveness for students, staff, and faculty of diverse identities, backgrounds, and abilities, and support the physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being of our community members.
Thus far, the program has assisted about 50 proposals already in the past two years within all six Science departments and a few of the SoS-affiliated institutes with up to $3000 each, providing support for projects such as building collaborative lounge areas, departmental BBQs, activities for women’s support groups, mental-health awareness yoga classes, and workshops on inclusivity in the School of Science. Funding has been granted to staff, faculty, postdocs, and graduate students alike, so do not hesitate to think of creative ways you can instigate improvement of your and your peers’ quality of life at MIT. Note that proposals can span a single event, semester, or even multiple years and those with matching funds from other sources will be viewed favorably by the selection committee.
If you have an idea for a project, event, or activity that matches any of the following goals, then you should consider applying:
• Provide faculty, staff and students opportunities to interact and socialize outside of the current research driven seminar series and other department-based events.
• Integrate academic and social aspects of life within the School.
• Improve communications and outreach.
• Build collaborations and connections with other community groups on campus.
The deadline for submitting proposals for spring funding is December 13th. If you are interested in learning more about the program or submitting a proposal, additional information appears online at http://sciencem.it/sos_sql. Please note that when you submit a proposal, you should receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 2 days or you have questions about the program, please contact me at scienceqol at mit.edu<mailto:scienceqol at mit.edu> or call me at 617-253-8904.
Best,
Heather Williams
