The application process for applying to the University of Michigan Molecular and Integrative Physiology PhD Graduate Program<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/> is entering its final month. Our PhD Graduate Program is seeking talented trainees to join our program in pursuit of their PhD degree in biomedical sciences.

Training You in State-of-the art Research. Physiology<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/about-us/our-history> is a highly integrative science used to understand how genes, molecules, cells, and organs function together in health and how dysfunction causes disease. Researchers in our department<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/faculty-research-interests> utilize model systems ranging from worms and flies to humans and innovative approaches ranging from molecular to computational to address questions in aging, cancer, cardiovascular disease, metabolism and diabetes, neuroscience, reproduction, gastrointestinal disorders, skeletal muscle, systems biology and others. Join our PhD students in leading these projects under the guidance of esteemed faculty<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/faculty-research-interests> who are deeply committed to training.

Training for Your Career. The Physiology Graduate Program is focused on preparing each student for the career<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/education/career-development> they plan to pursue. Students explore opportunities through training grants<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/education/phd-program/training-grants> and certificate programs<https://medicine.umich.edu/medschool/education/phd-programs/about-pibs/pibs-curriculum/certificates-dual-degrees>, interviews with guests and alumni, workshops<https://ogps.med.umich.edu/resources/cpd/> and internships<https://rackham.umich.edu/funding/funding-types/spring-summer-internship-grants-for-bioscience-doctoral-students/>. Professional skills that are highly sought after by employers, such as writing, communication, and teamwork, are also emphasized.

Training You to Be A Leader. The Physiology Graduate Program prepares students to be leaders in research and in life. Our Graduate Education Fund<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/education/phd-program/graduate-education-fund> provides travel funds for students to attend national and international meetings. Students are encouraged to take leadership roles in the department and throughout the medical school and are awarded<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/education/phd-program/student-awards> for participation. Our graduate students founded and run a STEM outreach program<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/education/outreach> focused on nearby low performing schools without a science curriculum. Our students also serve as leaders on student groups and committees<https://rackham.umich.edu/rackham-life/diversity-equity-and-inclusion/> focused on diversity and inclusion, women in STEM, graduate school policy, and global initiatives.

Prospective students should apply to the University of Michigan Medical School Program<https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/molecular-integrative-physiology/education/phd-program/apply> in Biomedical Sciences (PIBS), which is the combined admissions program for all 14 PhD Programs in the medical school. Be sure to select Molecular and Integrative Physiology, the #1 Physiology program in the country in Total NIH Grants Funded, as your #1 choice program. Deadline is December 1, 2019.
