Subject: research technician position at Jain Lab at UCSF to study oxygen, vitamins and aging

Hello,

I am an investigator at UCSF, running a lab focused on oxygen metabolism and aging. I am look for a passionate undergraduate who wants to spend 2+ years post-graduation as a research technician. Would you be willing to send the blurb below to the appropriate listserv or else could you point me to the correct individuals/groups/emails for this? Additionally, if you know any students or recent graduates, you recommend, please pass along this information.

Many thanks,

Isha Jain

The Jain Lab is a group of motivated and passionate researchers studying the role of oxygen and vitamins in disease (https://ishajainlab.com<https://ishajainlab.com/>) We are looking for a hard-working and curious research technician to join us for a minimum of two years – students considering the PhD or MD/PhD route are ideal. We recently discovered that chronic hypoxia (equivalent to living in the mountains of Peru or Nepal) can serve as a therapy for mitochondrial disease in mouse models (https://jainlabblog.files.wordpress.com/2017/12/hypoxiatherapy_science_2016.pdf). This approach is currently in clinical trials. We are now interested in studying the effects of low and high oxygen on additional disorders and age-associated processes, as well as understanding the fundamentals of how organisms sense and adapt to varying oxygen tensions. We will be using a combination of systems-level approaches (CRISPR screens, metabolomics, etc.) and animal physiology to tackle these questions. Research technician will work closely with the principal investigator, potentially resulting in first-author publications and conference presentations.

If you are interested in working on exciting problems related to aging/metabolism/oxygen, please send your CV and cover letter to: Isha.Jain at ucsf.edu and apply via: https://sjobs.brassring.com/TGnewUI/Search/home/HomeWithPreLoad?partnerid=6495&siteid=5226&PageType=JobDetails&jobid=2846028&codes=IND#jobDetails=2846028_5226
