Research Institutions such as the Broad Institute, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, Massachusetts General Hospital and life science companies such as Boston Scientific, Foundation Medicine, Novartis, and many others are in demand of data science talent. The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) has launched a new internship program that connects companies and research institutions with qualified candidates through an online platform and subsidizes eligible employers.

How the Program Works_________________________________________ _______

·         Undergraduates and graduate students (including post-docs), as well as currently employed candidates, skilled incomputational biology, bio-statistics, physics, biology, chemistry, economics, etc. with strong computational skills and an interest in applying data science to health outcomes are encouraged to submit an online application, which includes a resume and identifies data skills/tools. There is no application deadline since placement is rolling.

·         Host organizations review applications and contact candidates directly if interested in hiring them for an internship. Internships are paid, up to 6 months, can be part or full time and take place any time throughout the year.

·         MLSC reimburses research institutions and companies (with 100 or fewer full-time employees in MA and no more than 250 worldwide) for intern wages of up to $20/hour at the Bachelor’s level, $25/hour at the Master’s level, and $40/hour for candidates with Ph.D.s. Host organizations must be located in Massachusetts and engaged in life sciences. Larger companies are encouraged to search the database but are not eligible for the subsidy.
