SUBJECT: Preregister for required HASS-S course Rise of Asia!

Greetings,

This spring The Rise of Asia course<http://student.mit.edu/catalog/search.cgi?search=17.53&style=verbatim&when=*&termleng=4&days_offered=*&start_time=*&duration=*&total_units=*> is being taught by Professors Richard Samuels<https://polisci.mit.edu/people/richard-samuels> and Vipin Narang<https://polisci.mit.edu/people/vipin-narang>.

The focus will be on the social, economic, political, and national security problems of India and Japan--two of the largest economies in a dynamic region with the potential to shape global affairs.

Each topic and country will be examined from the perspectives of history, contemporary issues, and their relations with one another and the United States.

This course meets the HASS-S requirement<https://registrar.mit.edu/registration-academics/academic-requirements/hass-requirement> for all undergraduates. It also may be applied as a MISTI<https://misti.mit.edu/> course requirement and toward a minor in applied international studies<http://catalog.mit.edu/interdisciplinary/undergraduate-programs/minors/applied-international-studies/>.

Preregister today! <https://registrar.mit.edu/registration-academics/pre-registration>
