Subject: Pre-Registration for IAP and Spring

Dear students,

I am writing to remind you of the pre-registration schedule for IAP and Spring 2020. Pay special attention to the deadlines; some have late fees associated with them. All continuing students — including graduate students taking thesis or research credit — are required to pre-register for spring term to maintain their student status. Dates, deadlines, and details are below.

I also want to remind you that the 2019-2020 Academic Calendar differs from last year. An outline of the changes can be found athttps://registrar.mit.edu/calendar-change. Of particular note:
• Registration Day is Friday, January 31.
• The first day of classes is Monday, February 3.

• The Patriots’ Day student holiday (Monday, April 20) is one day, not two days.

• Drop Date is Tuesday, April 21.

• Commencement is Friday, May 29.

If you have any questions, please contact the Registrar’s Office<mailto:records at mit.edu?subject=Pre-Registration>.

Thank you.

Pre-registration for IAP and Spring 2020

IAP 2020

• Pre-registration opened at 9 AM on Monday, December 2 and closes at 5 PM on Friday, January 10.

• After pre-registration closes, use the Add/Drop Application<https://studentformsandpetitions.mit.edu/> to make changes.

• If you don’t add your class by the end of IAP, you will need to petition<https://studentformsandpetitions.mit.edu/> to add it to your registration.

Spring 2020

• Pre-registration for the spring term opened at 9 AM on Monday, December 2.

• Initiate your pre-registration by 5 PM on Friday, December 27 to avoid a $50 late fee.

• Make CI-H/HW subject selections<https://registrar.mit.edu/registration-academics/academic-requirements/communication-requirement/ci-hhw-subjects/ci-hhw> before the deadline. After January 16, you may only add yourself to CI-H/HW waiitlists.

• Once you have submitted your initial pre-registration, you may modify your subject selections until pre-registration closes on Thursday, January 16 at 5 PM.

• There is an $85 late fee for those who do not pre-register by January 16.

Sincerely,

Peter
