Good morning,

My name is Michelle Parece, and I am thrilled to be reaching out as your liaison for the Akamai Mentoring Night at the Museum of Science. Last year we worked with Meghan Kenney from the office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Programming, but as she is no longer at MIT, I am looking for a new contact to assist me with student outreach and recruitment.

As you may know, for the past few years the Museum has offered a variety of opportunities for women and girls in the Greater Boston area who aspire to be STEM professionals. This year we are again looking to partner with local colleges and universities to help us recruit undergraduate women to participate in this unique professional development and mentoring opportunity. The event is scheduled here at the Museum on Tuesday, November 13th, with registration beginning at 3:30 p.m. and the program running 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.

As a part of the Museum’s Women and Girls in STEM 3.0 Month we will host a panel discussion featuring female leaders in STEM, to explore the breadth of ways in which they have utilized their STEM passions. The panel will be followed by a networking reception focused on providing real-world, tactical skills for students seeking careers in STEM. The reception will provide the opportunity for students to engage in a multifaceted discussion with over 50 women who are top professionals in their fields.

We encourage students of any socioeconomic background, ability, religion, sexual orientation, and race to participate. We also encourage transwomen who identify as part of minority groups to participate.

Space is limited, so I ask that you help me to recruit motivated, college-aged, women who would be empowered by this experience. Please let me know if you are interested in participating this year, and I will forward you our registration link. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact me at mparece at mos.org<mailto:mparece at mos.org>.

Thank you in advance for your help and support!

Michelle
