Sponsored by the career offices of Harvard University, Boston University College of Engineering, Olin College, Tufts University, and MIT.
Meet representatives from small engineering firms across the area seeking engineering students for full-time and internship opportunities in innovative fields including robotics, energy, medical devices, and civil/environmental design. All levels of engineering students from the five sponsoring institutions are invited to attend. Registration is required as attendance is capped for each participating university. MIT is participating in a series of virtual career fairs as part of the NACE STEM Coalition-- a coalition of university and colleges that have a significant population of science, technology, engineering, and math academic fields.

The Mechanical Engineering Virtual Fair will be Monday Oct 24 from 1-4pm. Details below on how to participate:
This STEM Coalition Virtual Career Fair connects you in real time with employers seeking to recruit talent from multiple STEM-focused universities. You'll connect with employers with open career opportunities nationwide, all from the comfort of your home, office, smartphone or tablet. Be sure to view employers’ booths! As an attendee, you have the ability to explore employers’ information and opportunities prior to the event. Choose which employers you want to interact with and apply for open positions before the event; then engage in one-on-one text-based conversations directly with a recruiter at those organizations. The Academic Job Search for PhDs and Post Docs

Wondering how to mount a successful job search in this highly competitive academic job market? This workshop will discuss important elements of preparing a strong application package which includes a CV, Cover Letter, Research Statement, Teaching Statement, and Diversity Statement. This presentation is targeted towards all PhD students and Postdocs who may prepare for the faculty search now and in the future. In addition, actual academic hiring committee interview questions from 20 US and international universities will be provided. Infinite Careers Alumni Speaker: Steve Baker (Course 4)

The Infinite Careers speaker series brings networking TO YOU through small, round-table discussions between students and alumni. The goal of the program is to highlight various alumni career paths and show how careers can have unexpected twists and turns. Undergraduates and Graduate students are all welcome.

Steve Baker is the speaker for this event. Steve received a bachelors and masters in Architecture from MIT and studied at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is the founding principal of Baker | Wohl Architects (BWA), an award-winning professional architecture firm located in downtown Boston. BWA’s practice focuses on affordable housing, academic and institutional work, and mass transit projects. Prior to founding BWA, Steve was an Architect and later Senior Associate of Woo & Williams from 1984 to 1992. While at Woo & Williams, Steve worked on projects in both the United States and Korea, including the international competition-winning design for the Seoul Olympic Village for the 1988 Olympic Games.


Space is limited to 20 attendees. Dinner will be served (no pizza or sandwiches).
