Dear Students,
I am writing to remind you of the pre-registration schedule for IAP and spring term, and to call your attention to the fall end-of-term subject evaluation period which begins in just a few days.
Please pay special attention to the pre-registration deadlines; some have late fees associated with them. All continuing students — including graduate students taking thesis or research credit — are required to pre-register for spring term to maintain their student status. If you have any questions please contact the Registrar’s Office<mailto:records at mit.edu?subject=Pre-Registration>.
Pre-registration for IAP 2019
· Pre-registration opens at 9 AM on Monday, December 3 and closes at 5 PM on Friday, January 11.
· After pre-registration closes, use the Add/Drop Application<https://studentformsandpetitions.mit.edu/> to make changes.
· If you don’t add your class by the end of IAP, you will need to petition<https://studentformsandpetitions.mit.edu/> to add it to your registration.
Pre-registration for Spring 2019
· Pre-registration for the spring term opens at 9 AM on Monday, December 3.
· You can build a list of classes in which you are interested, by selecting the [Spring] icon that appears in the subject listing/schedule<http://student.mit.edu/catalog/index.cgi>. The list of selected subjects will populate your Selection page where you can automatically submit by clicking the button, ‘Pre-register these classes’
· Initiate your pre-registration by 5 PM on Thursday, December 27 to avoid a $50 late fee.
· Once you have submitted your initial pre-registration, you may modify your subject selections until pre-registration closes on Thursday, January 17 at 5 PM.
· There is an $85 late fee for those who do not pre-register by January 17.
You have two ways to request CI-H/HW subjects during pre-registration:
· Enter up to two primary subject choices with two alternatives for each. Learn more about CI-H/HW subject selection.<https://registrar.mit.edu/registration-academics/academic-requirements/communication-requirement/ci-hhw-subjects/ci-hhw>
· Place yourself on a waitlist. After Registration Day, instructors fill openings in their classes through these waitlists. Learn more about this process.
Fall 2018 end-of-term subject evaluations
· Subject evaluation<https://registrar.mit.edu/subjectevaluation> opens at 9 AM on Monday, December 3 and closes at 9 AM on Monday, December 17.
