To the Biology Community -

The department is pleased to announce that the following students received Biology awards and recognition at the Undergraduate Dinner.  Congratulations to all!

Amanda Cao - Salvador E. Luria Prize - For scholarship and research of publication quality in Prof. David Sabatini’s lab.  Mentor:  Maria Mihaylova

Meenakshi Chakraborty - Susan Hockfield Prize in Life Sciences - For a third-year MIT undergraduate student in any area of the life sciences who has demonstrated both exceptional performance and promise for graduate study and research. Meena works in Prof. Phil Sharp’s lab. Mentor: Salil Garg

Abbey Diener - Gene Brown Prize - For outstanding academic scholarship,  and demonstrated excellence as a teaching assistant in 7.02

Chun-Ting Liu -  Merck Prize - For outstanding research and academic performance in biophysical or bioinformatics science in Prof. Jing-ke Weng’s lab. Mentor: Michael Torrens-Spence

Kimia Ziadkhanpour - Ned Holt Prize - For demonstrated excellence in scholarship as well as service to the MIT community.

Sarah Stern - Whitehead Prize - For outstanding promise for a career in biological research through academic scholarship as well as contributions to research and the MIT community, for work in Prof. Peter Reddien's lab. Mentor: Aneesha Tewari


Undergraduate Research Symposium 2018 Speakers

Biology Phi Beta Kappa inductees

Goldwater Scholarship - this is a competitive national scholarship and MIT can nominate a few students for this scholarship. This year two of our majors Meenakshi Chakraborty and Anna Sappington are recipients of of this award.

Rhodes Scholar - Recipients of the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship are selected based on scholarly achievement, character, commitment to the public good, and leadership potential.   The scholarship provides funding for one to three years of graduate study at Oxford.  This year Mary Clare Beytagh received this award.

Course 5-7 Undergraduate awards
