Subject: FW: 3/12 Climate Change and Nuclear Power Documentary Screening
Date: March 9, 2018 at 11:26:30 AM EST
On Monday, March 12th, the MIT American Nuclear Society Student Section and the MIT Energy Club will be hosting a free screening of the new documentary film "The New Fire"! The documentary focuses on the role that nuclear power can play in mitigating climate change and the next generation of nuclear reactors in development by young entrepreneurs that could meet the challenge.
The showing will be from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm on Monday, March 12th in the Stata Building Room 32-123. After the documentary is shown, there will be an open Q&A session with the David Schumacher (film director), Prof. Kerry Emanuel (MIT EAPS professor featured in the film), and Prof. Mike Short (MIT NSE professor featured in the film).
More details on the event can be found on the showing's Eventbrite page<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mit-screening-of-the-new-fire-tickets-43397060777>. We encourage audience members to submit questions for the panel ahead of time via the Facebook event page<https://www.facebook.com/events/222753278272177/> or Google Forms<https://goo.gl/forms/zGMi5cT40g2fLjEC3>. We think this an amazing opportunity to discuss the role that nuclear power could play in the fight against climate change. We hope to have people from all over the MIT community attend and discuss this issue.
If you have any questions about the showing, please contact Patrick White<mailto:rpwhite at mit.edu>.
