The Knouse lab will be opening at the Whitehead Institute in June and is looking for a motivated graduating student to serve as the lab’s first technician. Our lab will establish the mouse liver as a physiologically relevant system for understanding the reversibility of cellular quiescence with the ultimate goal of uncovering novel approaches for tissue regeneration. This job will give you the unique opportunity to be a critical member in the establishment of a new laboratory and conduct independent research alongside the principal investigator that could result in first-author publications and conference presentations. You will further benefit from collaboration and interactions with the rich scientific community at the Whitehead Institute and MIT.

Job Description

- Establish and conduct your own independent research project related to quiescence and regeneration
- Present your work at lab meetings, seminar series, and conferences
- Analyze and compile your data for publication
- Help to maintain the laboratory by ordering supplies, preparing stock solutions, and maintaining the mouse colony

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in biology or related discipline
- At least one year of research experience in biochemistry, molecular, cell, or organismal biology
- Prior experience working with rodents or willingness to learn
- Proficient in basic laboratory techniques
- Excellent organizational skills
- Minimum two-year commitment
