Dear Campus Community:
Amid the melting snow and start of the spring semester, MIT is a busy place these next few weeks. On behalf of MindHandHeart, we encourage you to take breaks, connect with others, and make someone’s day brighter through spontaneous acts of kindness.  Additionally, we invite students, faculty, and staff members to participate in two upcoming event series designed to spread knowledge, connection, and joy: Life Skills Week and RAK Week.

Life Skills Week (2/27 to 3/3)<http://mindhandheart.mit.edu/events/life-skills-week#calendar>
>From doing taxes to cooking on a budget to communicating effectively with a partner, life confronts us with many moments where we realize we're lacking some vital skills– things everyone should really know. Things that make us wonder: “Why did they never teach me this in school?” Organized by the MindHandHeart Life Skills Working Group<https://mindhandheart.mit.edu/about-mindhandheart/working-groups/life-skills>, Life Skills Week<https://mindhandheart.mit.edu/events/life-skills-week#calendar> will address gaps in practical knowledge to inform and empower the MIT community.

RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) Week<https://www.facebook.com/events/599501906886746/> is a time dedicated to connecting members of the MIT community through small acts of kindness. Organized by the MindHandHeart Connectedness Working Group, it is designed to be a fun, light-hearted week encouraging us to care for one another and connect with support resources on campus. Please see the attached RAK ideas document for ways departments, students, faculty, and staff members can engage in “RAK hacks” and spontaneous acts of generosity. The Chemistry Department, for example, is hosting a series of exciting RAK initiatives<http://chemistry.mit.edu/random-acts-kindness-week-march-6-10-2017>.
