Funding Opportunity for Overseas Language Study
Undergrad and Grad Students—Boren Awards provide a unique funding opportunity for U.S. students to study specific languages in world regions critical to U.S. national security interests:
• Boren Scholarships provide undergrads with up to $20,000 for 1-2 semesters of language study in a country generally underrepresented in study abroad. A special initiative for STEM students offers $8,000 for a summer program.
• Boren Fellowships provide grad students up to $24,000 for overseas study and up to $30,00 for a combined international and domestic program.
• Regions include Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
• Award recipients commit to working in a national security-related position within the federal government for at least 1 year after graduation.
Come join us on Tuesday, October 18 from 2-3pm in E40-496 for light refreshments and a presentation by Susan Sharp (Assistant Director, Boren Scholarships & Fellowships, IIE).
