The Harry S. Truman Scholarship is a highly competitive, merit-based award offered for graduate study in preparation for a career in government, the non-profit sector, or elsewhere in public service. The scholarship recognizes students for their outstanding potential as leaders in public service and their commitment to a life of service. We will begin with an overview of LinkedIn and some of the key areas of a complete LinkedIn profile. We’ll also cover some ways LinkedIn can be used as job search tool. This will be followed by individual work on your profile, with Career Services staff available to answer your questions. Limited to 20 students.

Crafting the Cover Letter

Writer’s block making you cringe?  No worries! This interactive workshop will have you well on your way to writing a strong cover letter. We will review the basics of good professional writing and take you through a 5 step process for crafting a stellar cover letter. This workshop is appropriate for students currently applying to opportunities, and those just wanting to get a head start. Space is limited to 20 students. iRobot Info Session

We will be discussing:
-          How the company has recently shifted focus towards software

o   Include areas such as path planning

Academic Job Search

This event will help PhD students and postdocs prepare for the faculty search. Topics include effective job search strategies and preparation of documents (including overviews of the CV, teaching, research and diversity statements). This event will use mostly lecture-based approaches with some activities.
