===================

If you want to get a great internship, develop strong professional skills, and establish a killer network—any or all of the above—then join UPOP! Our goal is to help MIT sophomores be successful in the “real world” —and we don’t take up much of your time! Our yearlong professional development program is flexible, for all majors, and offers workshops, mentors, industry speaker events, networking opportunities (with hundreds of great employers!), 1:1 and group coaching, and lots of support for your internship search. The cornerstone of our program is the weeklong workshop, offered twice over IAP (January 9-13 and January 30-February 3, 2017).

The “UPOP Edge” UPOP sophomores regularly intern at companies like Google, Facebook, Lincoln Labs, Pfizer, Vecna, Goldman Sachs, Apple, Chevron, iRobot, Accenture, Lockheed Martin, The New York Times, NASA, as well as government think tanks, international research labs, and exciting early-stage startups. We work closely with 800+ companies each year.
IAP “boot camp” Intense but fun! Offered twice over IAP, this weeklong, hands-on, experiential workshop emphasizes team development, communication and problem-solving, with simulations and opportunities to practice public speaking, negotiation, and networking skills. It's taught by MIT faculty and coached by industry professionals. This is a requirement for UPOP.
Mentors Conventional wisdom says you can “Network or not work.” You’ll meet successful MIT alums and other successful professionals from all industries. These relationships can be long-lasting, and result in career guidance, internships, and even full-time jobs.
Academic Credit UPOP is a co-curricular program. Students who complete all the requirements receive two units.
Preparation for the Gordon Engineering Leadership (GEL) program GEL provides junior and senior engineering majors with training in advanced engineering leadership topics and mentoring from master engineers
