Good morning!

I hope this message finds you beginning a great day!

I am writing with a new fall 2016 course opportunity for MIT undergraduate students. I'd be deeply thankful if you can share it with your wonderful students. Here is the link to the course website, 11.011 The Art and Science of Negotiation, which includes the syllabus (also attached): https://dusp.mit.edu/subject/fall-2016-11011

For the last few years, 11.011 The Art and Science of Negotiation (HASS-S), had been offered only during the spring term. I had the joy of being hired to teach it for the first time last spring semester, and was entrusted with creating a completely new syllabus. The student response to the updated course structure and pedagogy was very positive, with more than 90 pre-registered students. Due to the nature of the class, which hinges on personalized negotiation feedback, we had to narrow down our enrollment to no more than 50 students before even the first class. Throughout the term, no student dropped the course and we were fortunate that they enjoyed their experience, reviewing the subject with an overall class rating of 6.9/7 and quality of teaching of 6.9/7. More information on the students' perspectives about the course and the teaching can be found here (also attached):

In light of the student feedback, the Department of Urban Studies and Planning made the decision this July, to offer the course both in the fall and spring semesters to serve the widest audience possible of engineering and science students. Last spring, we had 51 students coming from 13 different departments (enrollment breakdown attached). We currently have pre-registered students from 9 different departments.

The course focuses on offering an introduction to negotiation strategies through theory and practice. It emphasizes a hands-on personal skill-building approach underpinned by cutting-edge research. Applications in government, business, nonprofit, multicultural, and interpersonal settings are examined. The weekly negotiation exercises focus on preparation, communication, and leadership practices, as they shape our ability to frame conflicts, analyze problems, create value, negotiate agreements, and resolve disputes.

Since the course was not listed until a couple of weeks ago, we would deeply appreciate if you could share the course website/syllabus with your students so that, if they are interested, they have the opportunity to enroll this fall in a course that is over-subscribed during the spring.

If I can be of any help, let me know. Thank you very much for your time and support!
Bruno
