About the Fellowships

The Peter J. Eloranta Fellowships are awarded to MIT undergraduates for interesting and novel research and ideas that students develop from their own interests that are outside the normal curriculum. In making awards, the selection committee looks for engaging proposals that are well-written, original, and workable.

Each individual fellowship is $6,000 and may be used to cover project expenses, materials and services costs, travel and/or living expenses, so that recipients can fully focus on their project for the summer.

Eligibility

  * All MIT undergraduates (including seniors planning to graduate in June) are eligible to apply for these summer research fellowships.

Application Timeline

  * Attend a Fellowship Information Session: 2015 sessions will be held beginning in the spring. Details will be posted here, so please check back.
  * Consult UROP staff about your project ideas and potential proposals prior to formal submission. Contact us at eloranta-www at mit.edu<mailto:eloranta-www at mit.edu> or stop by 7-104, if you have questions about applying or would like to discuss your project.
  * Submit proposals for the Summer 2015 Fellowships no later than 5PM on Friday, April 3, 2015. Proposals should be submitted via email to eloranta-www at mit.edu<mailto:eloranta-www at mit.edu>. Hard copy proposals, media or other supporting materials may be submitted to UROP staff in 7-104, but email submission is preferred. See the Proposal Guidelines<http://mit.edu/eloranta/guidelines/index.html> section for guidance on what to include in your proposal and complete submission requirements.

Thank you and I look forward to receiving this year’s applications!

Best,

Shauna
