Waitlists for Communication Intensive Subjects in the Humanities (CI-H/HW subjects) are now available to help you find openings in these subjects, which have limited enrollments.

  * If you requested a CI-H/HW subject(s) during pre-registration, check to see if it appears on your schedule on WebSIS<http://student.mit.edu/>. If so, you have a place in that subject. Enrollment requires only that you complete registration. Last fall 89% of students were scheduled into one of their pre-registration selections.

  * If you are still looking to join a CI-H/HW, you must use the waitlists to request enrollment in these subjects. Waitlists for CI-H/HW subjects are also available on WebSIS through a link entitled “CI-H/HW Subjects.”

The waitlists give real-time information about which subjects have openings and the size of waitlists. You can add and drop yourself from the waitlists based on your current interests and projected placements on the waitlists.

Beginning on the morning of the first day of classes, Tuesday, February 3, CI-H/HW Instructors can offer available spots. You will receive offers via email with the subject line: “Action Required: CI-H/HW Subject Offer.” Generally you will have c. 24 hours to initiate adding the subject.

You should not email instructors to ask about placement in subject before classes begin. You should go to the first meeting of a subject in which you have a realistic chance of enrolling.

If you has been scheduled into a CI-H/HW subject and do not plan to attend, you should drop it immediately and open up a space for another student. For the same reason, you should remove yourself from waitlists for any unwanted subjects.

Many more details and extensive help materials are available about the waitlists and the enrollment process at the Enrollment Tools website, http://enrollmenttools.mit.edu<http://enrollmenttools.mit.edu/>. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact enrollment-tools at mit.edu<mailto:enrollment-tools at mit.edu>.
