DID YOU KNOW?

Career Services drop-in hours are every Monday through Friday (except institute holidays) from 11am to 3pm.  Drop-ins are available to current MIT students and recent alumni (alumni who have graduated within the last 18 months). Drop-ins are 15-20 minute meetings with GECD staff members that don’t require an appointment.  We can help you with quick career-related questions and the critique of resumes, and cover letters.

Register NOW for the 2015 European Career Fair
 The 19th European Career Fair will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2015  9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This event is open to college and university students and young professionals interested in working or studying in Europe.

Candidates attending the fair will have the opportunity to:
•         Submit their resumes online prior to the Fair for employers to review.
•         Network with over 100 European employers at the fair.
•         Attend company information sessions and events held February 21 - 23, 2015.
•         Interview with European employers (if selected) on February 22 or 23, 2015.

Registration: Students and young professionals are strongly encouraged to register for the European Career Fair in advance at http://ecf.fairsey.com<http://ecf.fairsey.com/>. Once registered, candidates will have access to more event details through the fair site and on-going email updates.

Can your resume survive a 15 second scan and still get into the YES pile? This webinar will cover the strategies of effective messaging and how to be "on-point" with your written communication. Your resume is not an autobiography, but rather a list of relevant accomplishments that links your skills to the needs of the company. You’ll use these techniques in your lifelong career strategies. Bring your laptop to explore the many ways LinkedIn can help you in your career exploration and job or internship search. We will begin with an overview of LinkedIn and some of the key areas of a complete LinkedIn profile. This will be followed by individual work on your profile, with Career Services staff available to answer your questions. This workshop is open to undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs and alumni.

How to Work a Career Fair
Tuesday, February 17 3:00-4:30pm
Many students are overwhelmed when attempting to navigate a career fair with hundreds of employers. In this workshop you will learn what to do in preparation for the fair, what to do at the fair, and what to do after the fair. The fair is an excellent opportunity to connect with employers and create a strategy that will help you in this competitive employment environment! How to Network with MIT Alumni

We will examine effective tactics for networking through the MIT ICAN Alumni Directory and strategies for conducting informational interviews. Biotech & Pharma Meet Up
Wednesday, February 18, 5:30-6:30pm
Don’t just mix chemicals in your lab, mix and mingle with employers in the Biotech and Pharma industry.  Join GECD for its first Biotech and Pharma Meet Up, a casual and informational event for students to chat with professionals from several local organizations.  Meet MIT alumni and other representatives from these companies, learn about their work, their culture, and about potential career paths. Light refreshments will be served. Interviewing for International Students

Learn how to develop and enhance your interviewing skills by attending this workshop. Workshop will cover types of interview questions, appropriate dress, and important tips to think about before, during and after the interview. This session will focus specifically on challenges many international students may face when interviewing in the US.
