Faculty Supervisor: David Bartel

Project Title: Global mapping of RNA-RNA interactions in cells

Project Description: The goal of the project is to develop a high-throughput sequencing based assay for simultaneously mapping all RNA-RNA interactions in living cells. The UROP will lead this project under the supervisation of Xuebing Wu, a postdoc researcher in the lab with extensive training in both experimental biology and computational biology. The UROP will participate and learn about culturing human or mouse cells, perform molecular biology and biochemistry experiments, prepare next generation sequencing libraries, and carry out data analysis. The UROP can also participate in other projects if he / she is interested in, especially some computational analysis.

Prerequisites: self motivated student, general biology course (understanding of general biology), previous research experience not required but recommended, preference will be given to students who can work full time this summer (2015) and extend into Fall and beyond.
