"The Art of Astrophysics" Gallery Exhibit - Friday, January 31st 4:00 - 5:30 p.m., Memorial Lobby, Building 10

The MIT Kavli Institute's Astronomy Art/Multimedia Exhibit entitled "The
Art of Astrophysics" will be hosting a gallery show tomorrow (Friday,
January 31st) from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. in Memorial Lobby, Building 10 on the
MIT campus. We will be displaying our 49 fabulous entries for this year's
"The Art of Astrophysics" competition, including works from MIT
undergrads, graduate students, postdocs, professors, instructors, staff,
and spouses, as well as works from abroad, including one from as far
afield as Slovenia. The techniques used in these art and multimedia works
span a broad range, from data visualization to origami to photography to
painting to fire-spinning. We will be announcing the winners for our
contest (and the $700 in prize money) shortly after 5 p.m.; there will
also be audience voting during the gallery show for a fan-favourite award,
that will be eligible for a $50 prize. Please invite your friends out to
vote for the favourite piece.

We very much hope to see you out tomorrow afternoon 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Friday, January 31st in Memorial Lobby, Building 10.

We also note that (weather permitting) MIThenge
(http://web.mit.edu/planning/www/mithenge.html) will be taking place in the midst of our gallery show.
