Subject: Legatum Fellowship Application Deadline: February 15

Dear Graduate and Undergraduate Administrators,

The Legatum Fellowship's application deadline is one month away. Please share this with your students. Thank you!

APPLY NOW for a Legatum Fellowship
2014 Deadline: February 15, 2014.

Tuition assistance. One-on-one business plan coaching. Mentorship. Networking with potential investors. These are a few of the benefits of a Legatum Fellow. Incoming and current MIT graduate students, and rising juniors and seniors interested in entrepreneurship in low-income countries can apply at legatum.mit.edu<http://legatum.mit.edu/our-programs/fellowships>.

The Legatum Center seeks entrepreneurs who aspire to have a lasting and positive economic impact on low-income countries by developing their own entrepreneurial ideas and building their own local enterprises. The Center’s approach is intensely practical. Recognizing that even the best innovations can be rendered useless if not distributed effectively, we work closely with our Fellows to design not just innovative products and services, but also workable, affordable, and sustainable business distribution methods. More information may be found at http://legatum.mit.edu/our-programs/fellowships.
The Fellowship is open to all incoming and current MIT graduate students. Students currently enrolled as sophomore or juniors at MIT may apply to become a Legatum Fellow for the upcoming class. The program consists of:
• Business plan coaching
• A business “needs assessment”
• In-house scholars, domain experts, and mentors<http://legatum.mit.edu/about/mentors> to provide general guidance, encouragement, or specialized advice on an as-needed basis
• Enrollment in 15.S15: Entrepreneurship and Prosperity in Low-income Countries<http://legatum.mit.edu/our-programs/class-15s15> at the MIT Sloan School of Management
• Regular seminars on topics such as networking, cross-cultural communications, and pitching to investors
• A Lecture Series<http://legatum.mit.edu/our-programs/legatum-lectures> by entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and industry experts
• Special case studies and other curriculum material being developed by the Legatum Center that highlight aspiring and successful entrepreneurs in low-income countries
• Exposure to an extensive entrepreneurial ecosystem of investors, entrepreneurs, potential partners, and new technologies
• Financial assistance for education related expenses

Legatum Fellows are accepted in the Spring prior to the academic year of their fellowship and begin working on their business proposals in the Summer months. Fellowships are awarded for one or two years, depending on a student's course of study. Legatum Fellowship alumni join a growing network of international entrepreneurs committed to bringing their business plans to fruition.
Conditions of Eligibility for Legatum Fellowship:
Each applicant must be:
1. An applicant for a graduate degree program at MIT or a student currently enrolled as a rising junior, rising senior, or graduate student at MIT, and an MIT student for the duration of the Fellowship
2. Committed to using their education at MIT to start a business in a low-income country after graduating
