I am looking for a research technician to work in my stem cell biology laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/ Harvard Medical School. Our lab aims to understand how transcription factors dictate embryonic stem cell (ES cell) fate determination. Our eventual goal is to build computationally predictive models of cell differentiation that would enable us to turn stem cells into therapeutically relevant cell types such as pancreatic beta cells. We perform genomic analysis of stem cells as they are making cell fate decisions, and we collaborate closely with David Gifford’s lab in the MIT CSAIL Department to build computational models of the differentiation process. The research technician position would involve stem cell culture, genomic analysis, and molecular biology. A strong biology background and prior lab experience are required but not necessarily in the techniques mentioned above. I have previously trained two technicians who have moved on to MD/PhD programs, so I am looking for someone who could commit 1-2 years to an exciting research position to prepare them for graduate school. If interested, please email your resume to Rich Sherwood at rsherwood at partners.org.
