Technical Instructor

We are seeking an interested and motivated person for a part time position to be an instructor/tutor/ for undergraduate biology courses and for helping manage our high school outreach programs.

The position requires the person to work as part of a small team to advise 4 to 6 students both academically and professionally and to help organize/coordinate programs for high school students and teachers.

Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring a strong understanding of the basic sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, and math)
- Teaching a weekly course designed to complement and reinforce concepts students are learning in class (7.03, 7.05, 7.06)
- Being available for individual tutoring.  Organizing field trips to MIT for high school AP biology classes. Providing technical/administrative support for summer workshop for teachers, and science symposium for high school students

Applicants should be self-starter, great communicator, able to work independently as well as in a team, be organized, interested in education, able to take initiative, adapt quickly to new responsibilities, enthusiastic, and eager to learn new skills.



Other Requirements:

-       Previous experience teaching and/or tutoring

-       Previous experience with outreach/mentoring of high school students

-       Previous experience working in a lab

-       Commitment of at least one full academic year is preferable
