“Associate Consultant” Application Deadline:
                When: Wednesday, February 6th – 11:59pm

If you would like to be considered for an on-campus interview with Clarion Healthcare, a strategic consultancy to the life sciences industry located in downtown Boston, please note that Spring 2013 applications for the position of Associate Consultant are due to CareerBridge by 11:59pm on Wednesday, February 6th.

Clarion Healthcare will host an information session at The Inn at Harvard on Monday, February 4th, beginning at 7:00pm. This is an excellent opportunity to gain overall perspective on the work and culture of the firm, and hear members of the consulting staff (including MIT alumni) describe how they decided to join Clarion and their experiences at the firm to date. Refreshments will be provided, and there will be ample time to interact with recruiting and consulting staff, and members of the management team.

MIT alumni have always been integral to the success of Clarion. Below, MIT alumni at Clarion share a bit about their experiences with the firm and make themselves available to answer your questions about Clarion and its work.

We hope that you will consider applying for the Associate Consultant opportunity with our firm. Clarion is highly selective, and we very much look forward to reviewing the credentials of exceptionally talented individuals like you.

Thank you,

The Clarion Healthcare Recruiting Team

>From Consultant, Shan Wu (MIT PhD, Biological Engineering - 2011):
“I joined Clarion in September 2011 wanting a career that bridges science and business. At Clarion, our work is intimately tied to the underlying science of drug and device development and framing that science in the context of real world business operations. The breadth of Clarion’s work and our client mix maximizes my exposure to all aspects of the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Since joining, I have worked on a number of projects in different disease areas and of varying scope: from cancer to ophthalmology to orphan diseases, from market assessments to life cycle management to commercial strategy, every project has been a great balance between using my knowledge of science and business to help our clients solve their most pressing problems and bring medical research to become medical products.

I know that I personally made the best career decision I could have post-MIT. As a small firm, professional development at Clarion is truly limited only by an individual’s own growth. I am lucky to be surrounded by such an impressive group of peers, managers, and partners who serve as formal and informal mentors in my development. I hope you will take the time to apply for the Associate position with us and learn about Clarion for yourself. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions (swu at clarionhealthcare.com)<mailto:swu at clarionhealthcare.com)>.”

>From Consultant, Vineet Prabhu (MIT PhD, Cell Biology - 2009):
“In just a couple of years, I have worked on a wide variety projects ranging from launch support in oncology, to understanding the nutraceuticals market, to understanding the dynamics at play in pharmacies. Every project presents an opportunity to learn something new while being able to apply learnings from past ones. Please feel free to contact me –vprabhu at clarionhealthcare.com<mailto:vprabhu at clarionhealthcare.com> – if you have any questions; I would be happy to help.”
>From Associate, Brenda Goguen (MIT PhD, Chemistry - 2011):
“I joined Clarion because I wanted to explore the business side of the pharmaceutical industry, while still staying involved in the science that drives it. Clarion provides the ideal environment to do this. I’ve found that the projects are diverse and impactful, and the culture is academic and collaborative. Most importantly, I appreciate the many opportunities to learn from the partners and managers and to work with such an engaging group of colleagues. I truly value the experiences I have had at Clarion and would be happy to answer any questions (bgoguen at clarionhealthcare.com<mailto:bgoguen at clarionhealthcare.com>).”

>From Consultant, Shlomo Harnas (MIT SM, Biology – 2008)
“I joined Clarion in early 2009, seeking a career that combined an academia-like question-driven approach with real-world immediacy. From the get-go I was exposed to a broad range of project types and clients: from in-depth analysis and evaluation of potential new disease areas for global pharma to developing detailed epidemiology and revenue forecasts for biotech companies based on specialist surveys and real-world treatment practices. Throughout, the work at Clarion has combined analytical rigor, in-depth knowledge of the underlying science, and a strong emphasis on commercial and market concerns to help clients address the challenges they face. And because of our longstanding client relationships, we often have the opportunity to follow up on projects and see the results of our earlier work.

Mentoring and firm involvement – both informal and formal – have also been major components of my Clarion experience. Being in a small, flat company environment has also given me the opportunity to wear many different hats and get involved in a number of internal initiatives. It’s a great feeling to come into work with some of the smartest people I’ve ever met and know that my efforts will actually have an impact.

Looking back, I couldn’t be happier with my decision to join Clarion after MIT. I hope you consider Clarion as well; if you have any questions about Clarion or consulting, don’t hesitate to contact me (sharnas at clarionhealthcare.com<mailto:sharnas at clarionhealthcare.com>)! “

Spring applications must be submitted to CareerBridge by 11:59pm on Wednesday, February 6th.
