Dear students -
The department is soliciting nominations for the Barry M. Goldwater
scholarship from faculty for outstanding sophomores or juniors. This
scholarship is intended for students of outstanding potential who
intend to pursue research careers in mathematics, the natural
sciences, or engineering disciplines that contribute significantly to
technological advances.
The department will select one nomination from those received to send
to the Dean of the School of Science. Two candidates from the School
of Science will be selected for consideration by the Goldwater
selection committete. If you would like to apply, please contact your
advisor or UROP faculty supervisor. If your nomination is selected
by the Dean's office to go forward to the foundation
http://www.act.org/goldwater/, there will be additional nomination
materials to complete.
The following information is due in the Biology Education office by
Tuesday, November 8th:
A supporting statement from a faculty member describing your attributes
CV of candidate; and
MIT transcript
The supporting statement(s) should be sent directly to me from your
faculty mentor or advisor. If you are planning to apply, please send
your CV to me. You do not need to request an official MIT
transcript; we will obtain a copy of your unofficial transcript.
Good luck and best wishes,
Janice
