Greetings Bio Majors,
I hope this notice finds you well and enjoying your semester thus far. It's hard to believe, but mid-term is fast approaching, and it is now time to schedule the mandatory mid-term advising meeting. Please contact your advisor and/or their personal assistant at your next convenience to set-up a 30-minute appointment (or longer, if necessary) for sometime between Wednesday, November 9th and Drop Date, Wednesday, November 23rd. You can refer to the faculty profiles page on the Biology Department website<http://web.mit.edu/biology/www/facultyareas/viewalpha.html> to find their office contact information.
This is the ideal moment for you to bring up any issues that are affecting you personally and academically, as well as to review choices for courses in the upcoming semester, discuss ideas for your future career plans, and to get to know your advisor better, particularly in terms of his/her professional background and areas of expertise.
Please note that the advising period ends on Drop Date, so any changes (i.e., changing status of registration or other items<http://web.mit.edu/registrar/reg/add-drop.html>) that need to be approved by your advisor should be taken care of at this meeting, and must be done by November 23rd at the latest.
Lastly, you are reminded that you are welcome to reach out to your faculty advisor at any point for additional meetings during the semester; they are there to help you make the best of your experience at MIT. If you have any questions or concerns about advising or other issues related to your major, please send them my way.
All the best,
Joyce
