Fall 2009 - UROP Opening
Project: Ubiquitous Games Project
Faculty Contact: Prof. Eric Klopfer, MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program
Are you interested in Games? Education? Biology? The MIT Scheller Teacher
Education Program is starting a new NIH-funded project in which are
developing a series of browser-based games to be played mostly on mobile
devices (e.g., iPhones, smartphones). In these "Participatory Simulations"
(aka pSims), players (primarily high school introductory biology students)
will play these games both in and outside of class. The games will be
designed to embed players within rich dynamic simulations, giving players
opportunities to play collaboratively with (and sometimes in competition
with) classmates, while learning important concepts in biology. We are
seeking UROPs to help design these games. Students with knowledge of
biology, as well as an interest in education and/or games are encouraged to
apply. Experience designing games, while a plus, is not required.
Cover-letters and resumes can be submitted to tep-jobs at mit.edu. Please put
"Ubiq UROP" in the subject line.
