Cryoimaging
AMITA, the Association of MIT Alumnae, is hosting a seminar that I think
would be of interest to the students (grad and undergrad) in the biology
department. Is there a way you could distribute this information to the
department? Your help is greatly appreciated.
(I've also included information about 2 other upcoming AMITA events that
your students, particularly women, may be interested in.)

The Women in Biotech series continues on Thursday, November 12, with Dr.
Nazneen Aziz, NT '87, founder of Vitrimark. She will speak on "Cryoimaging
of biological fluids for discovery of structural biomarkers," and what it's
like to start a new biotech company.
Innovation and entrepreneurship is at work again. Dr. Aziz’s new venture
will leverage her unique nanoscale cryoimaging expertise. Cryoimaging of
biological fluids has the potential to dramatically drop the drug
development cost associated with biomarker discovery and validation.
Dr. Aziz will discuss the technology employed by Vitrimark as well as her
experience in starting up this company.
Dr. Nazneen Aziz is a former VP of Research at Interleukin Genetics, VP of
External Research at Point Therapeutics, Director of Translational Research
at the Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research, and Group Leader of the
Gene Expression Division at Zycos. She has also been an Assistant Professor
at HarvardMedical School. Dr. Aziz obtained her B.A. from Wellesley
College, and both her Masters and Ph.D. from M.I.T. She did her
post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard University and the Whitehead Institute.
