Hello Biology Majors,
It's hard to believe it's almost mid-term! In order to help you make any
remaining decisions about courses and to give you an opportunity to become
better acquainted with your advisor, the Biology Department requires
mid-term advising meetings every semester.
Please get in touch with your course 7 advisor to arrange a meeting between
November 5th and November 19th (this is Drop Date). Let your advisor know
some times when you are available to meet; plan about 30 minutes, but be
sure to tell your advisor if you would like to request a longer meeting.
Mid-term advising meetings are meant to give you a chance to discuss your
progress this semester and any issues that may be impacting you personally
or academically. You may also wish to talk over your plans for the future
and get input from your advisor; it can be immensely informative to hear
about your advisor's research or career path, for example. Students often
find it helpful to come to the meeting prepared with questions already in
mind.
I hope you'll find that your mid-term advising meeting leads to better
communication and a closer relationship with your advisor. Remember, too,
that you are always welcome to request additional advising meetings at other
times during the semester.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Best of luck with
the mid-term crunch!
Best wishes,
MacKenzie Outlund
